OS: XP

I encountered some problem with my notebook's [IBM thinkpad T43] OS due to possibly some virus attack. I installed the Windows XP again [after scanning the system] and choosed 'Repair' as option.
Now apparantly all other applications are working fine as before but the optical [USB] mouse is not being detected i.e., even its red light is not switched on. I would appreciate if anyone can help me solve this problem. I am sure that there is nothing wrong with the USB port of the system or the Mouse I'm trying to use with the system. When I connect this mouse with any other computer, it works and similarly when I use another USB device [like a flash drive] it works with this sytem. The problem is with the 'Mouse' I believe as I have tried another mouse over this system but it also was not recognised by the syste. |

Re: USB Mouse not being detected by Win XP
Yes, that is correct, if services will not start up the System file checker utility will likely fix it. I had a friend without audio because the windows audio service wouldn't turn on. It was really odd.
SFC.exe is run through the command prompt. The proper syntax is as follows: sfc.exe /scannow You will need to have your XP disk in the drive if you have it (otherwise you will need a copy of the i386 folder and registery modification which is never fun x.x). I believe that will solve your problem. (hope I don't sound like a broken record, 2 posts, 2 referances to SFC.exe!) Last edited by rickyjo; 07-02-2008 at 12:48 AM. |
