Exclamation smart error notification

i have a huge problem i have a compaq notebook evo n800c just recently i noticed a black bar on the right side of the screen cutting off part of the desktop i thought this was the only problem but when i shut down the computer and rebooted it i got this error message 1720-SMART Hard Drive Detects imminent failure (failing attr:03) and it gives me the choice of hittin f1 to ignore the problem and continue booting up please i need your help

thank you dai but is there any other way to fix it withput replacing the drive couldn't i just wipe the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

on rare occasions you can get away with clearing the hard drive with killdisk or dban and formatting and reinstalling
but 99.9% of the time it needs the h/d replacing
