Exclamation Vista Installation Pauses

I'm trying to install windows vista on a toshiba machine (a300-1bz) but it gets stuck at the end of the istallation process for some reason.

- It copies the windows files ✔
- expands files ✔
- installs features ✔
- installs updates ✔
...then restarts and then comes back here and
- doesn't complete installation. x
The CD/DVD stops rotating soon after. But right next to completing installation there's 3 dots that appear one after another even when the cd/dvd stops. Although, I've left it on for over an hour, maybe 2 and still nothing; the progress bar below wouldn't move a bit.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Windows Vista CD/DVD because, it worked on other machines just fine.

I tried intalling windows xp pro on it but winxp couldn't even find the hard disk drive.

Any suggestions on what to do?

you cannot use the same vista dvd to install it on more than one computer. We need a little more info about this.

as far as the installation, is it an upgrade dvd, oem or full retail version? Is it a reinstall, if so, why are you reinstalling?

Re: Vista Installation Pauses

It's a full retail version. I'm reinstalling because, a virus that norton can't disinfect has penetrated my system. After a while I started experiencing slow performance so I deleted all the partitions to start fresh and because I didn't get an vista dvd with the laptop I had to use one that I had perchased before and used on a packardbell notebook. But still even if doesn't work on more than one computer it shouldn't get stuck like that should it?
