Dell D600 Won't Boot
Hey folks,
I've had a Dell D600 for about four years now. The only problem I've ever had with it is that silly battery blinking light thing. The other day, though, I plugged it in to charge for the night. When I awoke the next morning, the laptop would not boot. Here are some of the things I've tried. 1. I verified it was not my power outlet. 2. The ac power cord does not glow green. 2a. Yet, I cannot boot on battery either (the battery could be completely dead, it's old, but I think I would get something on a boot attempt). 3. When I remove the battery and press the power button while plugged in, the red no battery light appears. 4. When you press the battery tester (?) on the battery it blinks with three lights (#1, #3, #5) Any thoughts? |

Re: Dell D600 Won't Boot
you may have a faulty battery according to this:http://support.dell.com/support/topi...toggle=false#4
seems like you have a bad combination there as it looks like your AC adapter and battery are both malfunctioning. get a working battery (borrow from a friend or something) just to test out if your laptop still boots. if you can also get hold of a working AC adapter. or test your AC adapter on a similar working laptop just to narrow down the list of suspects.

Re: Dell D600 Won't Boot
Update #1
I was able to test my power cord in another guys' laptop, the power cord is fine. I tried his power cord in my laptop, but no response. Should the D600 be able to boot with a power cord without 1) Having a battery or 2) Having a dead battery? |

Quote:
if you still do not get a boot or LEDs to light up, remove battery and AC adapter and press power ON button for 30secs or so. attach battery (no need if battery is dead) and AC adapter then power ON as normal.
