HP Laptop & Microsoft

Hope i have this in the correct forum.

I recently bought a new HP laptop and found after a short time that the microsoft office products were trial only and have now ran out. As i paid over £600 for the laptop i was quite disgusted that microsoft had only given the trial version so i contacted HP. They told me to contact the seller, which i did and they told me i could obtain the serial key to activate the products from them but would have to pay, either this or convert online and pay too. It's like i am being held to ransom and it makes me so mad to think they'd do this. 420 euro's £390 is a disgrace but what else can i do?

I even resorted to trying a friends office 2007 key but it didn't work. Am i forced to pay..even though as far as i am concerned, for the price of the laptop the full product should have been included.

Is it Microsoft or Microskank?

Re: HP Laptop & Microsoft

Unless you bought Office with your laptop you will have to purchase it separately. The "ransom" you speak of is a great money maker. I would recommend using OpenOffice.org. In the latest 3 Beta release they have docx support, that would allow you to open all of the things that you have been working on in Office.
