HP zv5000 Black Screen

No picture on start-up but when I hook up to another monitor, I can see everything. Took it in for diagnostics and was told LCD assembly, call HP. Called HP and got some woman who I could barely understand and after 45 minutes was told to send it in. No way, how can I trust someone who I couldn't even understand. I have read a lot of stuff and came up with two possible solutions: Inverter and backlight. Not sure what to do or what parts to order at this point. Help!!!! Should be an easy fix, right?

Re: HP zv5000 Black Screen

put a light near the lcd. if you can barely the Windows desktop then it could be the backlight or the inverter. you can try replacing the inverter first.
