Re: hp laptop doesnt boot
Hi Guys,
I have a DV2297 that has encountered the POST problem. I get mine to start by leaving it on battery power with fan running for a while then plug the power back in and start again. Given this is vista I am running it offers me recovery or start as normal. Select start as normal and the laptop will run fine (probably) . Below is more detail from HP (who know they have problems with a range of laptops)!!!!! Looks like HP have a problem with overheating. They tried to address with a Bios upgrade for the fan controller but if you did not know about it (like me) the problem seems quite common. Anyway, it might be worth reporting your problem to HP just in case you get covered by the 'extended warranty' =========== Hello Andy, Thank you for contacting HP Total Care. On reviewing your email, I understand that the notebook is not booting up and gives 1 long beep and 2 short beep. Also you would like to know whether your notebook is listed under HP identified faulty notebooks. Let me assist you in this regard. Andy, I understand your concern and I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting the issue before contacting us.. The issue you are experiencing could be due to various reasons. However, this is to inform you that HP has identified some issue with some of the Pavilion and presario notebooks. As you have mentioned that you have purchased this notebook is Sultanate of Oman and currently you are residing in UK, I recommend you to contact the nearest HP Authorised Service Provider (ASP) using the below given link. http://www.hp.com/uk/oow They will be happy to assist you further, if the parts (if required any) are available with them. This is because parts and services can be done only in the country where the notebook is manufactured or purcahsed. Parts vary from region to region. NOTE: If the technicians at the service center confirms that the motherboard of the notebook needs to be replaced, then you may use the below given part number or specifications to purchase new part. **Part number : 440777-001** {System board (motherboard) - Without processor and memory - For full-featured model that uses the Intel processor} I believe that the above provided information would address your concerns.
