pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17lf ata problem

i have this toshiba with the dvd drive being a pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17lf ata.

One day i was burning a cd image and burned correctly that cd and 3 other ones correctly too.

just after it finished buring all the cds, the drive started to have problem.

windows doesnt detect any issues, but the drive will not longer read anymore cds, these being burned, music or software ones.

the weird thing is that it is still reading and burning dvds.

i have done everythng you have suggested all the other people on this forum and cannot fix the problem.
when looking at the loweerfilters and upperfilters, there where no upperfilters on the registry, but there where lowerfilters and a lowerfilters.bak present.

I deleted them both and rebooted the laptop, but the drive still couldnt read any cds.

i dont knowif it is necessary to reinstall windows vista or format the computer to see if the error is fixed

Sorry for the late reply. Have you tried playing the burned cd's on the other computer and see if it detected?

can u help me ? .. it's been 3 months n i can't find solutions .. :

I also have the same problem, I deleted al the filters an the cd won't work. Dvd/s and burning DVD' work, but it wont read music cd's or programs cd Roms....

Help please.........

Combo drives have 2 lasers, one for CDs and one for DVDs. If one of them is not working, try a lens cleaner or replace the drive.
