Hi!

A couple of weeks ago, i had given my lap to someone to look into why it was slow. I've got it back and now,

my touchpad's scroll doesnt work. I tried going to control panel<mouse ,

Re: Touchpad scroll not working, Rundll32 error!!!

What did your friend do to your computer to speed it up? I'm wondering if your friend ran a virus scan and took out a corrupted .dll file?

That particular file (rundll32) is located in your Windows/system32 folder of your operating system.

What I would do is to go to another computer and copy ( DO NOT USE THE CUT COMMAND ON THIS TASK) that exact file to a thumbdrive then go to your computer and follow this path:

Single right click onto the Start Button

Select Explore

Under My Computer/Local Disk (C:) look for the WINDOWS (all upper case) folder and open that up.

Open up the folder that says "system 32" and look for the file labeled "rundll32"

If you can't find it in this folder simply install the copy from your thumbdrive into this folder and reboot.

If you can find it, that particular rundll32 file is probably corrupted so you'll have to remove it manually and insert the copy from your thumbdrive.

Reboot and that should fix that error message.

Re: Touchpad scroll not working, Rundll32 error!!!

Hi,

How do i know that the rundll32 file is indeed corrupted? What if it isnt??

And if i do replace the file, will it make my touchpad's scroll zone work again??

I tried going to HP's site and tried downloading the driver several times, but to no avail. It always shows the msg that either the site does not exist or the server connection (their server connection) has been reset.

Re: Touchpad scroll not working, Rundll32 error!!!

But my OS is not xp, it's Microsoft Vista Home Premium edition. Will pasting a rundll file from xp to vista create any problem??

I just cant afford to do anything to mess up my system right now.
