Exclamation Dell Inspiron e1705 battery

First post, hopefully someone can help?

have had this laptop for almost 18 months with the original battery, so might need replacing. in fact, got a message that the battery was coming to the end of its life and needs replacing. however, just took the battery out and checked the LED lights, and all 5 go green, supposedly meaning 100 % life.

the real problem I'm having, though, is the laptop screen goes black when the AC power is plugged in. when the battery is fully charged (or at least what's left of it), it works fine with the AC power OUT (well, for 20 mins or so), but as soon as I plug the AC power in, the screen automatically goes black, but the laptop doesn't shut off (iTunes stays on, etc). the screen also stays black if I power up with AC power plugged in.

So I'm pretty sure the battery needs replacing, but is that the only problem here? I hope so...but any help would be appreciated.

There could also be an issue with the adapter or the dc jack on the mother board in the laptop. If you can get another adapter that will work then try that.
