New Hard drive/transfer
Hello, I have just upgraded the hard drive in my Dell Laptop and was wondering how I can transfer everything from my old HD to my new one. I have a 160GB external HD and was curious if I could back up all of my files and then restore them on my new HD.
I am short on time and have a few more questions... I will check back later... thanks for any assistance! Jiller |

Re: New Hard drive/transfer
Sounds like you may want to image your old drive and restore it onto a new one. I'm not sure on which free utilities are capable of that or how to do it. Personally I use a commercial utility and it works great, but it is expensive. Here a list of free ones and brief descriptions. If you want to go that route, you're going to have to spend a bit of time learning. http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilit...andimage.shtml
