Hi guyz,
Sorry if i shouldnt be posting this here (i wasnt sure). Im trying to reset an Advent 7109 laptop, when i press f10 it takes me to "recovery angel" but then gives a blue screen saying system must shut down. I can boot normally but its so badly infected i just want to wipe and start over. Is there another way i can get into the recovery partition?, i was gonna try using another xp disc i have to wipe it and noticed theres a 4.8gb partition without a letter. Thanx Paul |

Re: I cant boot to recovery partition
Hi Paul, the unnamed partition could be the recovery partition but I am not sure about this. Another way to do what you need is to use recover CDs instead. I am assuming that like HP, these can be ordered from Advent website.

Re: I cant boot to recovery partition
is it running XP? if so, pop in you XP install CD (not the recovery CD) into the drive and boot. select Recovery Console and run CHKDSK /R.
try to run HDD diags also using diagnostic utils for your specific brand of diagnostic or try Hitachi Drive Fitness Test. also check your RAM with Memtest86+.
