Need to Update BIOS for new CPU

Hello,

I have a Compaq dv2410us. It's been a great little laptop but the ML-30 (1.6 ghz) on it is too slow now . I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the BIOS so it will recognize a Turion ML-40 (2.2 ghz)?

I already have 2 gigs of ram .

or if I can't update maybe, I can use the BIOS from a later model laptop from HP/Compaq that uses the ML-40 CPU so this laptop will recognize it ?

thank for your help?

Re: Need to Update BIOS for new CPU

Well, this is the latest BIOS for your model:

But I can't seem to find any CPU charts for it to know if that would help. BIOS updates really don't translate to higher CPU capabilities.

Re: Need to Update BIOS for new CPU

Thanks for your quick reply CTSNKY and the link also. So is there anything else other buying another laptop that I can do? This machine is working quite well, I just need a little more speed and I thought maybe the Turion ML-40 would do it?

Re: Need to Update BIOS for new CPU

Without specific info on your model's CPU range, the only next/best option would be a new machine.....sorry.
