hard drive problem

i have a problem with my laptop, yesterday my laptop just stop working and I tried to reboot it nothing happen. The light of the hard drive does not blimp and I can't hear it. The light from the key board are on and I can hear how the cd drive works but my hard drive is dead and nothing appears on screen. Can any one help me telling me how to fix it, thanks.

shine a torch on the screen and see if you can see anything
