Memory slot???

Hello guys, quick question, wanna upgrade my RAM, does anyone know where the second memory slot is on an EI SYSTEM 3115? Found the one on the bottom with the original 1gb stick in there, wondering if the second is under the keyboard? If so, how do I get the keyboard up?
Cheers for any help
Alex

Re: Memory slot???

Nope, that's what the bloke in pc world said, had a look and a stick of memory can't physically fit underneath because of a small ledge on each side of the slot narrowing the space.

Re: Memory slot???

You'll have to remove the keyboard to access that second Dimm slot. Typically you'll have to remove the top bezel above the function keys. Each laptop will have it's own quirks on keyboard removal. I'm working on a Compaq Presario M2000 right now and to remove that bezel you have to remove the battery and remove four tiny phillips screws that hold the bezel in place from underneath.

Once you remove that bezel there are usually four equally tiny phillips screws that hold the top end of the keyboard down. Once you remove that you simply pull up the loosened end and slide it towards the display screen being careful not to tear the printed-circuit ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the mobo.

Some computers have metal shields that will have to be removed to access the second Dimm slot. Once you see it, I recommend you install the biggest RAM module you can put in as you don't want to have to do this again.
