No LCD from startup to Vista splash screen.

I have a TOSHIBA notebook satellite A215 S4697. When startup the LCD is completely black. No back light. No TOSHIBA SPLASH SCREEN where it used to be. Cant see Bios. No nothing until Windows Vista Splash Screen comes out.
After that Eveything else is normal. Vista works perfectly.
I cant use the recovering cd because there's no LCD outside Windows. How can I get the LCD ON at startup? Please Help.

Have you used external displays on the laptop? Did you change power options recently?

PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU.
Power Supply Info and Selection . Info on thermal compounds & application . TEST PSU USING MULTI-METER

No changed in POWER OPTIONS but tried to use the external display (S-VIDEO) with no sucess on a TV. The display adapter is set right now to LCD only. No external tv or monitor.

Re: No LCD from startup to Vista splash screen.

does it use an nvidia gfx chipset? If so, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA out. the chipset will automatically default to close view until the splash screen. It's a longshot, but might be worth it.

hi,

just to add to what has been discussed... you said you cannot use recovery CD... does that mean you tried it already?

Yeah I tried hoping to solve the problem. I used inside windows and when the notebook restarts the cd ask you for options but since there is no video I cant see them and I was affraid to just hit keys and end up with a totally black display notebook. You cant see nothing until Vista splash screen appears.

Re: No LCD from startup to Vista splash screen.

try tapping F1 key starting when you power ON. continue tapping F1 until you see the Vista screen or any error that might come out. doing this will force an error during POST and hopefully it will give us a screen.

Re: No LCD from startup to Vista splash screen.

I have the same problem on a Desktop that i completely formatted and reinstalled Vista on. It is probably a Vista problem.
I haven't bothered to fix it as it is only a minor annoyance and everything works after the log in screen.
If i get the time i will try to fix it and post results here

The computer paused, maybe one of the error that you talked about but couldnt see it because LCD still black and then I hit escape (nothing happens) and then hit enter and the HD led startet flashing again. But didnt solved the problem.

Re: No LCD from startup to Vista splash screen.

this is strange.. AFAIK initial boot up procedures do not involve an operating system yet. in fact you can remove the HDD and do a boot into BIOS. have you tried it with an external monitor?

have you checked BIOS level recently? the page on the link below shows current BIOS and the problems it fixes. Some problems point to video. i believe you can run this in Windows.
