Toshiba A135 will not boot?
When I turn it on the AC light, power light and battery light comes on. The hard drive never accesses. The cd drive light is on all the time and the door won't open. Screen is blank,
I have tried taken the battery out, ram out, tried one ram at a time only, all no luck. When I hold the power light down it starts flashing amber. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Larry |

Re: Toshiba A135 will not boot?
hi,
try removing battery and AC adapter then press power ON button for 30 secs atleast. attach battery and plug in AC adapter and power ON as normal. EDIT: if the above does not improve anything, strip the laptop down to just keyboard, LCD and motherboard (remove hard drive, CD drive, wifi card and RAM modules) then power ON. obviously this will end in error but what we are after is good start up (POST).

Re: Toshiba A135 will not boot?
Thanks for the quick reply Trigger Finger.
Removed both HD's and both Ram Modules. WiFi card looks like it is built into motherboard? Just has switch to turn on/off. Can not figure out how to remove cd? The cover encloses it and no screws or latches. Tried powering up and still same. Will try to remove cover. Thanks, Larry |

Re: Toshiba A135 will not boot?
hi Larry,
best if you can get hold of a service manual. i tried a quick search but i cannot fine one. the service manual is a great reference on where components are located and on removal and replacement procedures.

TriggerFinger
I found a site that shows you how to remove components including the motherboard. With the components out you asked for I have the same problem. No screen just two blinks of the hard drive light and nothing? Larry |

Re: Toshiba A135 will not boot?
so after stripping it down and powering it ON, do you notice any LEDs lighting up? still no screen or sign of life (like fan spinning)?
EDIT: can you recall how it came to this? a victim of spill perhaps?

Re: Toshiba A135 will not boot?
No Spills. The fan never seemed to run as much as my old 2001 laptop.
I did some research and motherboard failures are very common on this and other models. Will buy the 4 year extended on-site warranty on the next one. Thanks for all your help By the way, I go back to the DOS 2.0 days with the OS, Programs and Data files on a 360KB Floppy Disk. Last edited by supersport1599; 06-10-2008 at 03:08 AM. |
