Re: Screen problem

so what you have now is a laptop that works fine on an external monitor but does not give anything on the LCD? that could mean a defective LCD.

you said previously that LCD somehow lights up. does that mean you do not have a dark or dim screen? do you see anything during the boot up process (POST, cursor, logo, etc.)?

Re: Screen problem

yup you are correct. check the LCD cable connections going to and from the motherboard. make sure they are seated well. also consider replacing the inverter with a known working inverter board (these are cheaper).

Re: Screen problem

first i suggest you get hold of a service manual for your model of laptop if you want to do some removal and parts replacement.

as for the inverter, most common looks like this:http://i11.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/9c/42/0efb_12.JPG

Re: Screen problem

yup... it is located near the LCD (somewhere on the top lid). the service manual will show the exact location and steps on how to remove/replace it.
