Laptop gets Motherboard replaced; Msn Messenger, Bit Torrent keep crashing

Hello everyone, I'm Joel from Mexico, and a while back I got a Compaq Presario V3117LA. Everything went fine for a good while, and I was loving my laptop.

But, such things never last, right? It stopped working one day, so I contacted HP's support line, who kept telling me it was my power chord, which it obviously wasn't, and eventually they took my computer in, and they replaced the laptop.

Afterwards, everything seemed fine for a while, but then I realized that MSN messenger keeps crashing, every hour or so, and Bit Torrent just can't work for 2 minutes, and most of the time it won't even last a while minute. I was using Bit Tornado, and installed Bit Comet too. It keeps crashing all the time. Nothing else seems to have any sort of trouble.

So, could you spare any pointers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi

i am not too familiar with MSN Messenger nor with Bit Torrent but are these the only programs that crash? have you tried other torrent programs similar to Bit Torrent? when you say crash, does it cut out the connection or freeze the computer or both?

Have you scanned the computer for malware?

TriggerFinger: Both programs just crash. I get a small window saying that a critical error happened, and the program closes. Nothing else on the computer malfunctions. I did try different clients, but I'm afraid I can't ask further on this.

Eneles: I'm sorry, I hate to be that guy. For what it's worth, I did look at the FAQ and Rules. It still puzzled me that only this two applications malfunctioned, and guessed maybe you'd knew if this meant something... God, I feel like my father, coming up with all sorts of theories for why he can't he set the margins on MS Word or something.

Edit: I used AdAware, updated of course, and it came up clean. I mean, cookies of course, but I follow the basics, use firefox, stay away from risky sites, never open suspect email attachments, and the like.

Run Kaspersky's online scanner to check for malware.
The online scan needs to install an ActiveX component before it can run.
The installation has to be accepted by you - click the screen (see below).

What firewall are you using?
Are you connecting to internet through a router?
See if there's an updated driver for the onboard network "card".
