Re: sony viao pcg-k23 wireless lan
could be a defective WiFi card.
best if you have a spare to use at the moment. if not, test your WiFi card in another laptop. i believe WiFi cards can be managed by Windows or by a separate program (ex. Intel Pro/Wireless). are you using something like this?

Re: sony viao pcg-k23 wireless lan
this is not a downgrade from Vista, right?
i am not quite sure about the wireless ON/OFF switch, but my guess is it has something to do with the utility and add on drivers (similar to hotkeys and special buttons). try installing the Wireless Utility and the Notebook Control and Utilities. get them here: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-li...r=3&SelectOS=7

Re: sony viao pcg-k23 wireless lan
if it is from XP home to XP Pro then the drivers should not be an issue. AFAIK both are using the same drivers. so if you have installed ALL the drives from the Sony website, then it should not be a problem.
test the card, use it in another laptop or replace it with a known working one.

Re: sony viao pcg-k23 wireless lan
Go to Start > Run and type in services.msc /s
Then scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration. Double click it, set Startup Type to Automatic and under service status click start. Then view wireless connections, change advanced settings and under wireless networks tab check Use Windows to configure my wireless network. Ok out and refresh network list. Hope that helps |
