Trouble with wireless card on Inspiron 1300
Lately I've been having trouble with my wireless card on my Dell Inspiron 1300 (Windows XP with SP3). The card is a Dell WLAN 1370 Mini-PCI. The connection will just disconnect every once and a while and I have no idea what is causing this. I know for sure that it is my laptop because the PC right beside it is picking up my wireless just fine.
I've tried updated the drivers to no avail. Are there any ideas why it would just randomly cut out like that? Thanks |

Re: Trouble with wireless card on Inspiron 1300
hi,
this can be caused by a lot of reasons. very common reasons - any interference in the signal or a dying wifi card would cause you to cut out... yes, randomly. best if you have a spare, a known working spare to swap with what you have installed now.

Re: Trouble with wireless card on Inspiron 1300
I assume you're fairly close to the wireless router, where you're not dropping out of range?
It could also be the router, as I've encountered some that will drop wireless connections that are in close proximity to them.

Re: Trouble with wireless card on Inspiron 1300
Actually, I'm on the second floor and the router is in the basement. However, I've never had a problem with this until a couple of weeks ago, and to my recollection, nothing has changed in my setup. It still does it and it seems to be getting worse. There are no alerts or anything on device manager either. This is starting to piss me off because I can't play any online games through my laptop (my 360 is connected to the laptop via network bridge)

Re: Trouble with wireless card on Inspiron 1300
I tried moving the router from under the computer desk in the basement to on top of it and it seems to have worked. I have no idea why it just started doing that last week though.
