Downgrading HP G7015EA to XP

My friend has this laptop and wants to downgrade it to XP
the problem is that when he tries to do so it says 'set up did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer'
He doesn't know what to do and neither do I
any help would be appreciated
Cheers

Hi,

Are you using SATA drives? if so you may need to install the drivers for these during XP install (F6 install third party etc..).

Start your search with HP website:

No he's not atm
Would he need to burn them to disk?
And just get them from HP's site?

Would he need to burn them to disk? -- depends what is available to you. some of them can fit on a 1.44MB floppy drive or you can use USB flash drives or burn them to a blank CD.
And just get them from HP's site? -- yes start with HP website. you can GOOGLE also. Just remember that in some laptop models, you may not have XP drivers at all. So searching and hunting for them may take forever.

Re: Downgrading HP G7015EA to XP

Sorry for double posting ^^
But thanks the SATA Drivers worked
Only to approach another problem though.
It says there is only 935mb of free space... when there is much more 120 gb.
So how can I fix this?
Thanks

Re: Downgrading HP G7015EA to XP

What type of disc did you use to install drivers? If it was a USB stick
did it happen to be a 1Gb stick? maybe your reading the drive info from
the USB stick.

Re: Downgrading HP G7015EA to XP

Thanks but I have been to the HP site...the XP drivers provided do not cover everything...I have now obtained pretty much all the drivers needed ...The device manager shows 3 elements which are not configured...a PCI device...Network Controller & SM Bus Controller...The PCI device I am assuming is the internal modem. Any ideas?
