Saving Desktop layout
I have a laptop, which I am now going to let my mother use. She will have a regular user account and I'll have the admin account on it. Since the screen is 1600x1200 resolution, I've reduced hers to 1024x768 so she can see better.
The problem is that every time I log in, it will mess up her desktop layout of icons when she goes back to hers. (acting like I had changed resolution to hers account, then back again) Is there anyway to save her desktop layout so it doesn't change when I log in? Or do I have to make mine 1024x768 to preserve it? |

Re: Saving Desktop layout
That only gives you the option to lock web content, not lock all desktop icons.
I tried enabling it and it didn't help at all, it still moves the icons around when I switch users and back again. (some to the left side and some down to the bottom) Pretty annoying, since i have to redo her desktop layout every time I have logged in on my own account. (yes, her shortcuts are in her own user folder, not in the common one) |

Re: Saving Desktop layout
First link is sadly not going to fix it. Still going to mess up the icons.
Second link doesn't work Third link is to lock down the workstation, not sure how that would save the icons? Thanks for trying, seems like this is an oversight by MS that you can't save or make these things stick. |

Re: Saving Desktop layout
Thanks, that almost got it there. (its better than before, thats for sure) But you still have to restore the layout every time. Would be great if there was a way to make that bit automatic upon startup of the user login, that would solve this once and for all.
