Blank Laptop screen

Hi there I will start of with the basics. Well when i turn my laptop on the screen is completely blank - no mouse pointer nothing. Added to this the battery no longer works at all. I plug the AC adaptor which allows the battery to work. However once I plug it out the laptop shuts down. Therefore i have to keep the adaptor in at all times, weird :(. This is not the only problem, when I plug my laptop into a monitor the screen works but it is blue for some reason - maybe the graphics card? Secondly when the vista logo appears the screen says 'No signal output' but if in safe mode vista loads fine. So overall the battery does not work, vista is not loading properly and the laptop display is blank unless plugged into a monitor which has a blue tinted display. If the display could be fixed then that would be very helpful, if not would have to look at a new laptop :(
Here are the specs:

Advent 7113
Intel Celeron M430 1.73GHz Dual core processor
1024MB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premuim
Li-ion battery

PS: fan does not work when turned on, light comes on but fan stays still. Plus found out my brother broke original DC adaptor and has brought a new one. Message on back of laptop that says to be used with original adaptor only. Could this be a reason - too high/ less volatge or too high/less amps?

Thanks all!

Re: Blank Laptop screen

Thanks for the reply,
on the laptop battery it says input: 20V 3.25A while on the charger plug it says 9V and 3A. This seems like the problem?

Re: Blank Laptop screen

also compare the output ratings to the old original adapter... that would give you an idea of the required output voltage.

according to this webpage:
http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/7113.htm

Advent 7113 uses a LiteON PA-1700-02 AC power adapter. Doing a quick search, the specs for this adapter are:
INPUT: 100-240V~ 1.8A, 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 19V 3.42A 65W

from this, it looks like your AC adapter is very far from the required. i suggest you consider getting the right AC adapter ( http://www.pchub.com/uph/laptop/46-2...r-Adapter.html)
