I have the Compaq Presario R4000 laptop. I noticed whenever I use an external DVD USB 2.0 writer on my laptop computer, it only burns at 4X. My laptop does have USB 2.0 ports. I read posts from other websites saying that it's impossible to get external DVD USB 2.0 writers plugged into laptops to burn at speeds greater than 4X. Is this correct? If not, how can I get the external DVD writer to write at speeds greater than 4X for DVD +/- discs. I'm using Verbatim 16X discs.

Re: External DVD Writer
Dark Vader 123,
This may be a limitation of your drive and USB hardware - but it could also be a compatibility problem with that Verbatim 16X media and your drive. Not ALL media is compatible with ALL drives. Try another brand and see if you can burn at a higher speed on your USB drive. - John |
