Toshiba Satellite Matshita uj 841s issue
DVD MultiRecorder is inoperative. Uninstalled and re-installed and get "Error 37". Drive is not recognized and will not initialize. Downloaded drivers from Tosh Help site but still no go.

It is possible that the drive is dead. One other thing I recommend is going to toshiba's website and downloading the updated firmware of the drive and update the dvd drive's firmware.
I have a feeling that the drive is gone and it needs to be replaced. Do you have any warranty at all on your laptop? |

hi bmemam,
try deleting upper/lower filters and see if it helps. also test the drive in another computer via a USB connected drive enclosure or on a similar laptop.
