HP Pavilion ze5500 randomly shutting off
Hi, I'm looking for some help.
My HP Pavilion ze5500 is randomly shutting down on me. It happens without warning, and during all sorts of activities, including when the computer is just sitting idle. The problem started two days ago, and happens several times a day. It is not overheating. The laptop is not particularly hot when shutting down, and is on a notebook cooler. I'm running Windows XP Home. Any idea what could be causing this? |

Re: HP Pavilion ze5500 randomly shutting off
hi,
you are correct it may be other things other than overheating. it can be a faulty RAM or hard drive. just to cover the possibility of overheating, get NHC or SpeedFan to monitor your temps. check your temps every now and then just to be sure. run CHKDSK /R on your hard drive. also use your HDD's diagnostic tool (see link to HDD diagnostic tools on my sig). also run Memtest86+ (d/load link on my sig) to check your RAM. do post back what happens.
