Cd/Dvd drive is screwed
I have a toshiba satellite a105. My cd drive will not work at all. Wont open, my computer doesnt even recognize that its there, wont show up on device manager. I've tried reinstalling drivers and just about every other thing i could think of over the past 3 days. I'm pretty sure its dead but if anyone has an idea i'd love to hear it. Big thanks
ps i also have a usb problem. It seems like my computer has a problem and only lets things it want work through usb. For example: i can use my Broadband air card but i cant use a webcam? Or i can use an audio devise like speakers but not a neat reciepts device.....weird. It seems anything that has a installation cd doesnt work. Help please |

Re: Cd/Dvd drive is screwed
hi Capt.O,
try deleting upper and lower filters in the registry (Google and download CDGONE tool, it will do the same thing). also try it on another computer via USB external enclosure. another way is to use another working drive. for the USB check device manager if they are recognized. from the samples you gave it seem to me that you may need the drivers for each of the devices you attach via USB (but then again i may be wrong). for the Broadband aircard, is this USB and not PCMCIA? for the webcam, it may need the webcam driver. please validate if these devices have drivers or driver installation CD that you can install.

Thanks for the advice. I tried the CDGONE tool and it didnt help. I also used a program called guided help and that also deletes the filters in the upper and lower registry. It told me that they dont exist on my computer? As far as the usb problem. When i plug in a device they sy its an unknown device but i istall the drivers for said device and get the same thing over and over. |
