Dell wireless connection problems
I have a Dell Inspiron 710m. Also i have at&t internet. The problem i'm stuck with is that the connection is exelent, but i can not get IE to work at all. I tried to update the wireless driver and it didn't do a thing. Not to mention the usual repair, did absolutely nothing as well. Tried calling dell support but all they told me to do is do a system restore back to when i first got it 4 years ago. I have alot i don't have the abbillity right now to save and would lose it all. Please i've tried all i know so far and nothing is working, can you help me?

Re: Dell wireless connection problems
check your firewall to allow IE. on the WiFi issue, check if your wireless router if it is connected to the DSL/broadband/cable modem.

Re: Dell wireless connection problems
It's not just IE that doesn't work,.. fire fox, avg can't update, i have no means of getting online. Thing is windows says i'm connected,... dell doesn't. I'll check the fire wall tough.

Re: Dell wireless connection problems
i suggest you test it by connecting your laptop directly to the cable modem using a cable. if it is able to connect to the internet, you might have a problem between your Wireless router and the cable modem.

Re: Dell wireless connection problems
Are you on a broadband modem?
I have a home network of five computers hooked to a wireless Linksys router. All five computers connect to the router but only one cannot connect to the internet. I turned everything off (unplugged both the modem and router) including the laptop and waited about 15-seconds. In this order and timing I did the following to restore internet connectivity to that laptop: 1) Plug in the modem and establish connection to the ISP's servers. I wait about 15-seconds. 2) Then you turn on your wireless router so it can recognize the modem, again another 15-seconds. 3) Finally I boot up the laptop and reconnect to the router and refresh the wifi connection. I'm suspecting this is your problem and most probable solution. Good luck.
