Re: HP dv9843cl notebook - xp drivers

Hi Bill,

Thank you for the link. I haven't try it yet. The reason is that HP tweaks the original drivers, so when I let Nvidia site to look for drivers on my computer the answer was
"check with HP" :-(.

Re: HP dv9843cl notebook - xp drivers

Sorry I looked and you need the XP Drivers
This driver should work :
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_169.21_whql.html

It is the same one I gave you.

Have you tried to install other drivers?
If so remove the previously installed drivers first through ADD/Remove programs.

If it does not install through the setup exe. file, try a manual install of the driver.

Extract the file to a folder (One you make and name). Go to the device manager. Open the Display Driver tab>right click on the display that shows>update driver>no, not at this time>Click on advance>Browse to the folder you extracted the files to.
See if the driver will install.

Can you also give me a screen shot of the device manager with all the + opened.
Bill

Nope, manual install did not work either. I have a screenshot of the message nVidia gave me and the one from the device manager (I didn't open all + as it wouldn't fit into one window). Please let me know where I can send it to, as I don't see how I can attach file from the forum site. Once you have them, I can open all + you would need :-)

thanks a lot for your willingness to help

Vlad

OK,
I see you have an Everest report can you link it to the thread.
Do you have XP SP2 installed along with all the other updates?
You are downgrading this unit so the drivers must be installed in a certain order.
Did you install the chipset driver yet?
Bill

Re: HP dv9843cl notebook - xp drivers

Yes, I installed all the drivers I could find (the chipset were the first one to install). XP has SP3. Everest report is attached.

Thanks,

Vlad

Re: HP dv9843cl notebook - xp drivers

Uninstall SP3 from the add/remove programs and install SP2 only if it does not revert to that.
I have help others with the same problem as yours that SP3 messes with driver installation.
Then attempt to install the graphics driver.
What was the chipset driver you installed?

Hi,
This is the chipset driver that should have been installed (third on the list)
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-025753.htm

Was this the one you installed?
Bill

Re: HP dv9843cl notebook - xp drivers

I'll have to re-install XP from scratch, tehn as SP3 was integrated and it doesn't show up in "Add/Remove". I'll try to do it ASAP, but not sure whether I can manage (will have to leave for a week tomorrow)

The chipset drivers are from the below link (second set)
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filt...stems&lang=eng

thanks,

Vlad

You have the right chipset.
See if the driver will load in Safe Mode.
