Dell Laptop Fan Speed Problem
I have been having fan speed problems for over a week now. For some reason my fans are running on high speed, shortly after boot up.
I do not have many processes running in the background and I installed a fresh copy of xp just the other day. One odd thing that I noticed lately is that after the fan speed starts running high my system starts to lag. I am running a Dell Inspiron 9100 with windows XP Any Suggestions? Thanks in advance |

Re: Dell Laptop Fan Speed Problem
hi,
at boot up it is normal to hear your fans running at higher speed but that is temporary. it will slowdown and even stop after everything else settles down. your temps are quite within the acceptable range. nevertheless, try cleaning the vents for any dust or obstructions at it could help a lot.

Re: Dell Laptop Fan Speed Problem
the fan or the speed of the fan is controlled by the temperature. if you are experiencing high fan speeds all the time, it may have to do something with it. anyhow try to monitor your temps, and make sure your vents are free from obstruction.
i am not aware or familiar with any diags for fans. but you can try this one: http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html
