Error message - Resource conflict on Startup

Hi guys. First post here.

I have an IBM R32 laptop that is slowly ageing. I have upgraded the RAM to 1G to get me through another couple of seasons to avoid buying a new one.

Now when the power is connected all the time I have no issue, however when I disconnect the power to use it remotely, and try to turn it on, I lose all time and date settings, then blank screen comes up with :

Error Resource Conflict - Allocation Error Static Node # 06

The time and date go back to 1988 in BIOS which I change back to todays date and then Save and Exit and it all boots fine, back to normal

Now I thought it was the battery, so purchased a new one, only to find the same problem......

Any help greatly appreciated.

Which battery did you replace? The one that powers the laptop, or the coin cell type battery for the bios?

Re: Error message - Resource conflict on Startup

there's a little coin battery in these things. Really? OK I'm guessing I may have replaced the wrong battery then?

hi,

try this maintenance manual for an IBM R32 thinkpad:

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs...df/02r2914.pdf

follow the steps on how to replace/remove the backup battery. exact location is just under the keyboard. so if you have removed the keyboard, you can see the backup battery, also known as the CMOS battery.
