laptop powers on but nothing happening issue.....
Hi, I have Hp DV 1000 Enternmaint laptop and the issue is It does power on as far as all the LED's come on and such but its just quiet all I hear is the litle fan inside spinning but no hard drive noise-the led harddrive light not doing anything, nothing on the screen comes up. Anyone have an idea Thanks?
I am a pc tech got my own mobile/onsite tech business if this means anything. To me kind of looks like the motherboard is bad or the power supply but I'm talking/thinking about desktop pc's issues though..... |

Re: laptop powers on but nothing happening issue.....
hi tgg,
can you boot from CD drive still? try a linux live CD or an XP installer just to test if it can pass POST. if possible (since you won't be needing it during the tests) remove the HDD from the laptop. post back what you find out... EDIT: by the way, since you mentioned the motherboard; do you know if this was a victim of a spill or bad bios flash? try hooking it up to an external monitor if you can get something screen. also best if you can reseat the RAM.

Ok nothing worked still, I'm thinking you should still see the POST screen like the HP logo or somethning but nothing ever happens on the laptop screen too. Again with the harddrive installed the hard drive LED indicator comes on really quick when you power on the laptop but nothing at all after that. Last edited by tgg; 04-29-2008 at 11:16 PM. |

Re: laptop powers on but nothing happening issue.....
well like what you have said initially, it looks like a motherboard issue.
one last thing to try, strip it down to only RAM, keyboard and LCD remaining. then see if it will at least POST.
