acer 2420 not powering on

When I press the power button nothing happens. I dont hear the fans or see any lights on the dvd-rom blinking. I do have a solid amber and green light on the front of my LT though. I also have a solid green light to the left of my keyboard. Its the 3rd light on the bottom. I have replaced the ac adapter and battery. Help!!

you said you replaced your AC adapter and battery... did the symptoms occur before or after you did the replacement?

Thanks for the reply trigger, The symptoms were happening before i replaced the battery and ac adapter. I took apart the LT and found the culprit I believe. It is some really small black diode thingy. I dont know the name of it though. It is all burnt. Do you think i can replace that part or im looking @ a new MB?

yup that's it. i believe you have a dead motherboard in your hands. if you know how to repair motherboards (not me, too complicated

), then may be you could try the repair yourself.
