Toshiba mouse Problem
I've been experiencing a problem with my toshiba satellite a205 mouse. Sometimes it will act as if i clicked it and then it will end up typing where ever the cursor is. For example, lets say as I'm typing this message my mouse is hovering over the word 'toshiba' in my first sentence. Out of no where it will act as if i had clicked in the middle of the word, and will start typing there. I'm trying to watch myself and make sure that Im not accidentally hitting the pad or anything like that. Has anyone else experienced this problem with their toshiba, or any other laptop? Right now I'm kind of thinking I'm just getting fat fingers and bumping the mouse, but if anyone else has experienced this glitch I'd like to know. Thanks.

Re: Toshiba mouse Problem
hi Sellingen,
i noticed that too. a sensitive touch pad would and can behave in such a way. sometimes, it seems i have tapped into the pad where in fact my hand just lightly (but accidentally) touched the pad. i also noticed that this behavior only comes out if tapping on the pad is enabled. when i installed the touchpad drivers (Synaptics for mine), i noticed that no matter how i tap on the pad it does not work anymore (yes before that, it was using default Windows drivers). with Synaptics drivers installed, i need to press the left/right touchpad buttons. having said that, try the Mouse properties in Control Panel if you can disable tapping on the pad and enable the touchpad buttons instead. also try uninstalling the driver (or installing for that matter if you are currently using Windows default drivers). i hope that helps.

Re: Toshiba mouse Problem
I'm having the same exact problem - and I tried disabling the toshiba software that was supposedly making the mouse more "smooth". That didn't help.
I've narrowed it down to one of two things Either it's a virus (it's always possible) - but I have virus and spyware active all the time OR it's a mechanical fault with the design of the laptop. I noticed that when my hands are RESTING anywhere near the touchpad - that the mouse acts randomly. I THINK that's the problem. It's a defect in the design. Not real happy about that - because I love the computer other than the random mouse thing. |
