My dell laptop power light on , then off by self.

I had Dell laptop -- latitude C840 .
At few days ago, I was using this laptop, but suddently power off by self.
I replug power cord and push on/off button, power light is on, but few seconds later, power light off by self. I was tried many times, same way, power light on for few seconds, then off, laptop never can bootup.

hi alpha314,

try powering ON using the AC adapter only (remove the battery) and vice-versa. if it does not work, try reseating the RAM. test your RAM too with Memtest86+ (see link from my sig). D/load the ISO version and burn the image into CD. Pop that CD in your CD drive and boot from your CD drive to start diagnostics.

post back what happens...

I check memory, it is ok.
I think the problem maybe is overheat.
I saw laptop fan didn't moving while laptop on.
Also while laptop turn off by self, I wait for a day, it can start again, but it run for one hour, then turn off by self.

it could be. check your fan if it runs during boot up (during the first few seconds after you press power ON). if it does not, consider replacing your fan.
