Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

Keep getting the message: D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/0 device error.

I'm beat with it.

Re: Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

Have you dropped it in anyway? If so the needle might have lost its alignment. Also go into device manager, do you see any type of symbol next to the drive letter?

Re: Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

I've not personally, but someone was borrowing it, and it hasn't worked since it's been returned.
Is this problem fixable?

I'm sorry, I'm not great with computers. I'm in "Device Manager" but can't find the "Drive Letter" where do I find it?

Re: Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

Try this simple way! uninstall drive and then reboot lap top when you boot up it should say found new hardware answer the questions on the pop up and say yes to install.... see if that helps. To do this right click on CD rom and then you will see uninstall click on that.

Re: Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

So I deleted the driver and thought this had solved my problems, as my DVD sprung into action. However, the volume is very scratchy, alomst as though it is a tape running slow. Also, when the puter starts up, The Windows little jingle sounds very scratchy too.

Think my puter is on it's way out. It's only fourteen months old too.

Re: Lappy won't play my DVDs or CDs

Hi Dai. Think I'll do an awful lot more homework ,before I buy my next one. I was expecting this one to do me about three years at least.

Been a pig in a poke from the very beginning.
