Wireless mouse driver problem
I just got a new logitech nano laser mousefor my laptop and cannot figure it out.
I was using a microsft usb mouse and it worked fine. I tried the new mouse on my desktop and it worked fine, without having to install any drivers. It shows up in the device manager under mice as an HID compliant mouse. When I plug the new mouse receiver into the laptop I do not get an acknowledgment of the device. Under device manager it shows up under "Other Devices">> USB Receiver" and when I try to update the driver I have no luck. I have tried the add new hardware and that does not work. When I try to update the USB Receiver and point it to browse the driver disc or the updated driver download it does not work. When I tell it to search the internet for the driver it quickly comes back to saying that: "the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" Is my USB port not strong enough to power it or what? any suggestions would be great. I am on a Travelmate 4230, XP Pro |

Have you tried another USB port on your notebook ? Your notebook can handel that tool without a power problem What do you mean "it does not work" re the driver disc ? Sometimes you have to go to a sub folder to get to the driver. You can also try deleting the "Other Devices">> USB Receiver" in your device manager , reboot & try plugging into a USB port again to see if it activates. |

I have tried all four ports. They work fine with three other mouses I tried, flash drives and my cameras. I have tried everything you suggested already. I deleted the usb receiver from device manager and rebooted with the receiver in the port and pointed the browser (within add adware wizard) to the driver on the disc and tried pointing it to the usbccgp.sys all with no luck. The ports seem to work fine, as far as now when I unplug and plug in the receiver I get the add new hardware prompt each time. for some reson I was not getting the hardware wizard everytime unless I tried different ports. |

Re: Wireless mouse driver problem
Ok so now you are getting the "add new hardware prompt". What happens with that...is that where you can't get it to see your driver disc ?

Like I said b4, I lug it inot my desktop and it works right away without installing any logitech drivers or doing anything. The mouse shows up in the device manager under: Mice and other pointaing devices" as a "HID compliant mouse" With the receiver plugged into the laptop, the device manager shows no mouse, it only shows it under "other device" as a "USB Receiver". I have tried uninstalling it, reinstalling it etc. I am wondering if I am missing something that would enable it to work as an HID compliant mouse as it does on my desktop? thanks for suggestions/replies. |

Re: Wireless mouse driver problem
That is aggravating. I assume you have XP on your notebook as like your desktop ?
I had a similar problem with my MS wireless mouse. Worked like magic on desktop , like you , no driver(s) needed from I'Net. But on the notebook , for some reason , I had to install MS's pgm that controlled the mouse's wheel & what not to get it to work. But you say you did that right ? I'm afraid this is one of those deals where you are just going to have to take it from step 1 all the way through to what you have already tried again. Somethings missing. Big help huh ? If you can find the *.inf file for that piece & delete it , then the notebook would have to look at , hopefully , your driver disc to get that info. Last edited by al616; 04-17-2008 at 09:32 AM. very aggravating. Yes XP Pro on all machines. & yes I tried the disc that came with it and tried dl'ing newer version from internet. The left click on my MS notebook mouse was acting up asn New egg gave me $40 credit for it and another rma so I went with this new $60 laser mouse and now I cannot get it to work. It works really nice on my desktop. the best thing about it is that it has the worlds smallest receiver, so I do not have to remove it to pack my laptop etc. I am considering doing a reinstall with the recovery disk I made from ACER. If I had a OEM or retail vdersion of XP Pro installed then I would beable to try a repir of the Windows OS, but I cannot with this installation (so i am told) thanks again Last edited by cliffhucker; 04-17-2008 at 09:32 AM. |

Re: Wireless mouse driver problem
Well I certainly hope you can get it to work without having to do a reinstall of OS.
This is my first notebook that has that OS restore in a partition without a disk so I'm not at all used to that new thing. Good luck & please post your results. |
