Laptop performance slowing

Hi, I'm new to the forums.. My Sony laptop has been lagging more and more lately. I clean up the hard drive and defragment regularly, but these don’t seem to do much anymore. Any tips for speeding up and improving performance? Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum . .

How much RAM do you have?
How full is your hard drive?
What security packages are you using?

Re: Laptop performance slowing

Have you also scan your computer for any viruses and spyware? Clean up the temp files? I recommend performing these task as well.

Norton can be a real resource hog and slow almost any machine down. To clean the temp files, click on Start . . Programs . . Accessories . . System Tools . . Disc Cleanup Run it weekly to stay lean.

You can also look in the msconfig startup list to see what can be disabled ( most of it actually ) Start . . Run . . type msconfig . . click on the Start Up tab Uncheck anything you do not need to run all the time

You might also try a couple of the antispyware tools in my signatrure
