Presario C700 Keyboard and mouse problem..

ok here's the problem..

i've just bought a new laptop yesterday.. Compaq Presario C700.. which do not have any OS in it..just a free-dos.. i decided to install XP in it.. at 1st the installation was working just fine.. then, at the time when it prompt to enter name and organization, i can't type anything because the keyboard is not working! same things happen to the touchpad.. but i managed to solved the touchpad problem by using an extension mouse..

what suppose to be the problem?

(sorry for my bad english..lol)

any help will be much apreciated.. thank you..

First of all, if the xp you are installing is from another computer, then you cannot use it.

if you have a regular keyboard and mouse use those until you get xp installed. If you still have problems after installing then try going to hp's website, click on support and drivers, then do a search for the specific model of the compaq. It should tell you on the bottom of the laptop - c700 is just a series number. You should be able to download the drivers you need there.

i dont have any regular keyboard.. =( but i already have all the driver that i need for the laptop.. for d keyboard, how do i install the driver for it so i can type when it prompt for any keyboarding response during installation of xp?

and btw, the free-dos is gone.. lol.. hope its not affect anything..

Hi unmaskedluke ,

What is your situation now ? Did you get XP to install ?
Also has your XP install disc been used on a computer that is operating now or is this the first time you have used it ?

sorry.. finally im able to install the xp.. dont know why..when i restart the laptop again, the keyboard and mouse is working..

but i got one problem again.. but lemme post it in a new topic.. =)
