[SOLVED] Acer Aspire 5670 input devices not working upon Windows install
I've got an Acer Aspire 5670 that recently suffered a dead hard drive. After installing XP SP3 and the necessary drivers from the Acer site, most everything worked great.
This morning when I boot the system up I find that the keyboard and touchpad work inside of BIOS but stop functioning when Windows starts. Peripherals receive power but don't seem to input data. I've had to remove the battery to get the computer to shut down because the power button, while lit, does not work. I've read that there might be a program running that is preventing input, but I haven't found what that is or how to fix the problem. The keyboard and touchpad work inside of safe mode, so throw me your suggestions. I'm anxious to get my baby back up and running. |

Re: Acer Aspire 5670 input devices not working upon Windows install
hi Nateman742,
looks like your computer froze in Windows. you said the keyboard and mouse work in safe mode; did you install drivers for input devices? how about uninstalling them first or rollback to previous driver and boot do a normal boot. also make sure you installed the chipset drivers.

Re: Acer Aspire 5670 input devices not working upon Windows install
Thanks for the reply, TriggerFinger. It seems I hadn't installed my chipset drivers. Doh! Input devices work fine now outside of safe mode.
I have some questions about some rather necessary drivers that give errors or need to be manually installed, can I post them here or should I ask in the Drivers section? |

OK then... some members will surely pick it up there in the Drivers section.
It is good that you had the problem sorted out... have a great day!

Re: Acer Aspire 5670 input devices not working upon Windows install
Welcome to TSF....
When you installed the special drivers from Acer for the chipset, buss, network, video, audio etc did you install these before or after the service pack 3? Service pack 3 is still in RC2 and actually considered BETA still, I would remove it and then re-install all of the special drivers in the order I just typed earlier. And see how htat works....
