HP Pavillion6000 won't boot
My laptop is barely a year old, so I feel like there shouldn't be anything major wrong with it quite yet, but this morning when I attempted to boot it out of sleep mode it wouldn't go.
The normal noises were there, fans starting, I could hear it attempting to boot up, but then it just stops, the lights flash and the process starts all over. It's not making it far enough for anything to show up on the screen at all, or for it to connect to my home network, so that route of trying to retrieve my files isn't an option. I've tried taking the battery out and replacing it to force a restart in case it was simply stuck in hibernation, but got the same result. Any thoughts? |

Re: HP Pavillion6000 won't boot
hi Swarley,
is your laptop still in warranty? if so, we usually advise to have it repaired by manufacturer (under warranty claim). we do not want to do or suggest anything that might void your warranty. but if you want to continue with doing it on your own, here's a one that you can try. 1. Remove battery and unplug DC jack/AC adapter 2. press on power ON button for atleast 30 secs. (more is good). 3. Attach battery and plug in DC jack/AC adapter. 4. Power ON as normal post back what happens.

one test is to boot up from CD/DVD drive using a linux live CD or your XP/Vista installation CD or DVD media. if you still cannot see anything on screen, physically remove the hard drive and hook your laptop to an external monitor.

Re: HP Pavillion6000 won't boot
Provided I'm able to loosen the screws I think I could manage. However, I only have about 10 minutes left today before I have to head to work, which I'm sure is not enough time to run the necessary tests.

get hold of the service manual for your model from HP website (may be). a good reference for disassembly.

Re: HP Pavillion6000 won't boot
did you run diagnostics on the drive? also have you tried an external monitor with your laptop?

Re: HP Pavillion6000 won't boot
if you have not sorted this out yet, i need you to check this document out and see if it applies to your situation...
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923232 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332/en-us the first one being the most current one. try the WORKAROUND if it helps you, and once you recover, request for the fix and apply... or download it here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/driver...v3-x86-enu.exe
