Dell Inspiron 1520 screen[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]
My friend has giveing me her laptop to sort out
its a dell inspiron 1520 vista when i turn it on it boots up normally like shows the dell logo and the windows starting up but then the screen just goes black. I can dim and brighten the back light what that is about it. ive got into diagnostics and ran most of them but has not found anything any suggestions what i can do next thanks David |

ive tired useing the operating system and stuff i have tired putting the factory settings and all the other system restore thing nothing works i have come to a concultion that it is the hard disk which is broke ive heard from my sister that the laptop gets thrown around alot and i do think it is the disk drive is compleatly gone. would you think that aswell |

hi diver94,
just a suggestion if you have a bootable CD like a linux live CD (Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS) or the XP/Vista installation CD, try booting from it. See if you get screen past the Dell Logo. If this still does not work, remove your HDD and try again. EDIT: have you tried running HDD diagnostics on your hard drive? if done and diags found no errors, try the steps here to repair Vista installation http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial148.html

I have tired booting it from disk and still nothing
ive tired all the diagnostics there is and it says there no is problem i think am just gonna give her it back and tell her to just send it back becuase its under garentee and i think it will be better than me messing around thanks for all the help tho ill get back to you if i find anything else wrong with it and i find thats wrong plus this can help other members if they have this problem |

![]() Just send it to the original manufacturer if its still under warranty, as you should be entitled to the free repair and replacement ![]() Just keep us updated about the issue then
