Vostro 1700 from Dell.ca
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB), English OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2 LCD DISPLAY 17.0 inch Wide Screen XGA+ LCD Display with TrueLife™ INTEGRATED WEBCAM Integrated 2.0 mega pixel Web Camera MEMORY 3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 Dimm HARD DRIVE 250GB 5400RPM SA160 Hard Drive OPTICAL DRIVE 8X CD/DVD Burner w/ double-layer DVD+R write capability, w/o Roxio Creator GRAPHICS CARD 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT WIRELESS CARD Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Internal-card SOUND OPTIONS Integrated High Definition Audio Total = $1,298.00 I have alot of the stuff maxed on this but if really necessary I can probably get dell to custom add some parts. My computer will be running lots of large applications at once and I wouldn't mind playing some games on it such as BF2, COD4, etc. I need no lag and I need this laptop to be very speedy. Here is the un-costumized computer link. Thanks a ton :) Last edited by Jay42; 04-11-2008 at 01:57 PM. |

Re: Is this a good laptop?
Okay but would this computer be good for doing what I want to do? I don't have to game with the best settings or the latest most amazing games. I just want to do a few decent ones and run several large aps at once.

I have a similar configuration.
One weakness is the 5400RPM hard drive. I will be replacing it with a 7200RPM hard drive shortly. Another was the onboard sound. I did replace it by installing a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook ExpressCard. Last edited by af3; 06-18-2008 at 09:26 AM. Reason: Another was the onboard sound... |

But there isnt a real answer anyway. Everyone has different opinions and likes different things. If your happy with your laptop then yea its good, coz its what you want :) |
