hp notebook screen not starting up

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion zv5000 notebook and it's about 3-4 years old now. A couple of nights ago I left my notebook on hibernate and the following day I used it again. The computer seems to be turning on, but not the screen. I tried using an external monitor but i get not display. what could be wrong?

i have considered the possibility of replacing the motherboard. I have no experience with this, though. I found a MB for $180 and some guy is offering to replace it for me for $140. So my second question is, how difficult is it to replace the motherboard myself?

thanks!

Re: hp notebook screen not starting up

hi,

looks like a long shot but try this first..

1. remove battery and unplug from AC
2. press power ON button for 30 secs.
3. release power ON button
4. attach battery and plug in AC
5. power ON as normal

post back what happens.
