Antivirus
My laptop came with a free 90 day trial of Norton Antivirus. This is soon due to expire so i've been searching around for new software. Problem is, i aint made of money so i need something cheap or preferably a free download.
On the download front, AVG free doesn't really appeal and im leaning towards downloading the free version of Avast. On the other hand, I noticed Norton Antivirus being sold for ?10 (around $20) in my local Gamestation Outlet (a video game shop). It was packaged and all, but is it trustworthy for such a cheap price? Especially as Norton appears to cost around ?40 online. I am a basic home user that uses MSN, Limewire and surfs the internet alot. I don't download a large number of things. Any opinions or advice? |

Re: Antivirus
I think the thing these days re anti virus pgm's is not so much the maker of the software but how the software affects your computer & what you have installed on it. They all do pretty much the same thing & at pretty much the same level.
If Norton seem's to do the job after you have used it for a'while & you have not noticed any obvious interference then use it. Usually when a pgm comes with a computer you get a pretty good price when/if you decide to keep it. Remember...on some of the bargains you get the software but have to pay more for the updates & things like that. You did not mention your OS but the "firewall" is just as , I think more , important than the anti virus software. Vista went a long way in beefing up their firewall so if you use Vista you should be ok. |

Re: Antivirus
I run AVG free on my laptop.
Have ran it without a problem on both Vista and XP. When you decide to dump Norton's you will need to run through these steps wise it will not be completely uninstall-ed. About your Norton Security Products (and how to remove them)
