My computer is stuck at a black screen

Hi today when i turned on my Dell laptop it froze on a black screen, and has been frozen there. I think that my hibernation file is corrupted and I was wondering if anyone one please knows how to fix this I have paper due on monday and I cant start over. If you need more info on the matter I will provide, thanks and bye

tap f8 when booting and try from the options
last known good configuration

If the suggestion from the second post don't help, try booting up with your windows xp cd and try performing a checkdisk repair. Also after the checkdisk repair, fix the master boot record. See if this helps you out.
