Drivers Disc?

I really don't know where to post this kind of question because it's so basic, but is the operating system disc and the drivers disc the same thing for gateway laptops? A friend of mine tells me that they could be separate.

sorry for the newbie-ness of the question.

Hi excaliburberry Welcome to TSF
A system may come with separate disks or it may come with a recovery disk that has both on it. Some come with nothing but with instructions for making a set.
