Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Alright, I re-installed the driver.
Went to: Control Panel - Sypnatics Acer Media Touch. And here's the screenshot of the outcome (attached to this reply). However, all those tabs available looked like it only applies to my touchpad, not the Media Touch keys. |

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
is this a fresh install or upgrade (i am assuming your unit came originally with Vista)? if yes, then install all drivers and related software from their website.

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Yes, it is a new laptop and it comes with Vista Business. But I guess I had installed all those related to it, or rather, only 1 driver is related to it. The rest of them is just the card reader, Bluetooth etc. But still, some of them could not be installed.
When I searched for the keywords "MediaTouch" in the Acer website, the results I get is only the specifications of models which have MediaTouch. Don't see any drivers/software downloads for it. |

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Anyway, after I had reinstalled the driver previously, when I launched the application(Sypnatics Acer Media Touch) again, it gives me the same error saying that I had to uninstall my current driver so as to use it. So I had uninstalled it.

Hi,
so it came with Vista Business and since that time you were not able to use the MediaTouch buttons?

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Yep, that should be the case.
Got my laptop, installed drivers and while streaming my music on Mediamonkey, I tried to use it but it doesn't work. Tried on Windows Media Player, still not working. Last edited by cazua; 03-16-2008 at 11:29 PM. |

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
hmmm... that's strange... anyways, if it is still under warranty i suggest you claim it with ACER. to my understanding 'all' devices should work when bought brand new. i mean no need to update drivers as they come pre-installed. so given that, the buttons should work unless they are already dead.

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Hi,
This is from ACER when I did some searching on this topic: Right click on the touchpad icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen and left click on Pointing Device Properties. Click on the tab for Acer Media Touch. Place a check in the boxes for Enable Buttons and Enable Sounds. Click on Apply, then OK. If the touchpad icon is not in the lower right hand corner, you will need to reinstall the Synaptic touchpad driver that controls this function. To do this: 1. Move your mouse over the Empowering technology toolbar and click on the eRecovery Manager icon or, if you do not have the Empowering Technology toolbar, you may also press ALT and F10 on the keyboard to start the program. Please note: You will be prompted to enter or create a password. If you forget this password then you will have to use the recovery discs to reformat the system. 2. In the next window you will see an option for Restore or Recovery. This will vary from system to system. 3. Now choose Reinstall Applications/Drivers 4. Choose Install 5. Click on Windows on the left side of the page. 6. Choose Driver. 7. Choose Touchpad 8. On the right, click the install link and follow the prompts. 9. The system may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, you should restart the computer yourself.

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Alright, thanks. Managed to get it to work. But I already got the repair man to come just now. So, I just let him to change the hardware anyways. It is more sensitive now, as compared to the previous one. So, I guess there is some minor problems with the hardware too.

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
that's good then... in the ACER reply, they also said that if their suggestion does not work, a hardware repair/replacement would be needed.

Re: Acer 4920G-603G25Mn MediaTouch key
Oh, it worked. But not so sensitive enough, since it is a "touch-sensitive" key. Looked as if it will lag a few seconds before it changes to the next song. :)
