Presario 2500 will not boot!

When the power button is turned on, all three led lights beside it come on and stay on.... cd drive will run every couple seconds with its light blinking and the screen is blank. Fans work, but no HD activity. I've swapped out HDs with my good one, but still the same thing. Is this a failed processor or another mother board issue?

Re: Presario 2500 will not boot!

I've swapped entire LCD's with my good presario, and still the same issue. In fact, the LCD from the faulty computer works in my good presario. I guess I could swap motherboards if I'm feeling adventureous, but I really dont want to mess with my good computer much, I fear something going wrong with it.

Re: Presario 2500 will not boot!

What is strange, is that many people have encountered this same exact problem with their presario 2500, but I have yet to find anyone who has figured out what it is.

Re: Presario 2500 will not boot!

if you swapped LCDs (i assume you swapped the whole top lid, which includes inverter and cables) with a known working one and the result is the same, it means you have a malfunctioning video chip... yes, you may need to replace the motherboard.

Re: Presario 2500 will not boot!

I don't think this is a video issue here. You really are in luck since you have another 2500 to tinker with.

First I'd consider reseating your RAM. You should have two DMM slots underneath your Presario. Try using one at a time if reseating doesn't work. Could be a defective RAM module.

Also you may want to consider that it is a CPU issue but instead of putting in a good one into the bad computer, put the bad one in the good one so you don't accidently fry the good CPU if the motherboard fried the bad one.

I'm thinking it's the RAM but it could also be your CPU.
